All you need to add grated cheesiness to anything is four ingredients, a small food processor, and a mason jar to store it. That's all. One, two, three, and you got yourself crumbled and powdery savory cheese to sprinkle on your pastas, casseroles, and much more.
This cashew based parmesan cheese is mixed together with garlic powder, nutritional yeast, and salt. The fine broken up cashews act as a replacement for bits of hard dairy parm cheese, adding an authentic texture to this vegan substitute. The nooch (aka nutritional yeast) adds the flavor of cheese and the salt gives that punch of sharp savoriness.
Seriously, just four ingredients. That's all. Measure out your ingredients, throw them in the small food processor and then pulse until fine and granulated. Keep it in an airtight mason jar and store in the fridge for up to 4 weeks.
Ingredients:
3/4 cup raw unsalted cashews
1/4 tsp granulated garlic powder
3/4 tsp himalayan sea salt
3 tbsp nutritional yeast (aka nooch)
Steps:
Add all ingredients into a small food processor. Pulse until the cashews are fine and mixed really well with the garlic powder, salt, and nooch.
Notes:
**don't soak cashews beforehand. It's important that the ingredients are all dry in this recipe.
**you can reduce the amount of salt to your liking
**almond slivers and pine nuts are good replacements for cashews
